Breath on the air
Tea cooling in my hands
Pebbles in a careful line
Footsteps slowing in the sand
A red bridge waiting
Over water clear and thin
Petals landing on my sleeve
Like they’re asking to be let in
Peaceful morning in a borrowed day
Cherry blossoms falling
Drifting my way
I don’t say much
I just watch them land
Tiny pink boats on the river of my hands
Stone lantern leaning
Moss bright from the night rain
Carp turn like painted fans
Vanishing
Then back again
Bell from a temple
Rings once through the trees
All the noise inside my head
Folds itself
And finally leaves
Peaceful morning in a borrowed day
Cherry blossoms falling
Drifting my way
I don’t say much
I just watch them land
Tiny pink boats on the river of my hands
