Used to wear a crown, now I hide my face
Gold on my brow, now it’s claws in the place
Portrait in the hall where they praise my name
But the paint cracked slow when they cursed my fame
They said “Long live the king,” now they lock the doors
I leave blue handprints on the marble floors
Mirror in the throne room, it just stares back
Shows fangs where my smile used to hang, all black
I was a king, now I’m a blue crowned monster
Heart turned cold, veins stained like water
They look away when I walk down yonder
Lost in a body that don’t feel like mine
Blue on my skin, blue deep in my mind
Royal robes ripped, can’t cover these scales
Every hug I want to give just fails
Servants drop trays when they hear my feet
Kids point fingers from the carriage seat
I remember coronations, loud bright days
Now it’s moonlight meals in the hidden maze
Talk to the statues just to hear some sound
They bow to the name, not the beast I found
I was a king, now I’m a blue crowned monster
Heart turned cold, veins stained like water
They look away when I walk down yonder
Lost in a body that don’t feel like mine
Blue on my skin, blue deep in my mind
If they took this curse and they gave me a choice
I’d trade every jewel for my father’s voice
Trade every feast for one quiet night
Where my hands look human in the candlelight
I was a king, now I’m a blue crowned monster
Heart turned cold, veins stained like water
They look away when I walk down yonder
Lost in a body that don’t feel like mine
Blue on my skin, blue deep in my mind
